Theatre students begin their sequence of studies with one semester of Theatre I followed by one semester of Theatre II. (Although these classes may be taken in separate years, it is recommended for the classes to be taken in the same year.) Both classes are prerequisites for Actor’s Workshop. These classes may be taken through repeated semesters. Honors credit is available for Actor’s Workshop.
In addition to curricular programs, the department offers many co-curricular opportunities for students to continue to develop skills as artists and technicians in two main stage plays, one main stage musical, and student directed studio productions. The BHS Drama Club includes over 150 theater enthusiasts and fosters an appreciation of theater, as well as a more sensitive and reflective understanding of the world around them. Annual tour destinations include the Illinois High School Theater Festival and Stratford Shakespeare Theater Festival.
